Weird Holiness and Peace

Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. (Hebrews 12:14 NIV)

Seems like a pretty big contraction.

To be holy means set apart, to the point of outcast weirdness. Obviously (like a sore thumb) distinguished from anything else. That level of weird is not the "cool weird" we all want to be. It's an alienating weird.

To be that weird (holy) AND still live in peace with EVERYONE is almost impossibly difficult. People don't like the truly weird or the holy. We as humans don't like when something or someone is different than us.

To live in peace with an "everyone" that doesn't get the weird holiness we're called to is quite the challenge. But it is one which results in peace (our planet could use more peace) and speaks volumes of the existence of God to others.

If we are holy without using holiness as a judgmental weapon but rather humilify our selves to keep peace while staying holy, it will attract people to Jesus.
